Susannah Scaroni

Susannah Scaroni is a Paralympic champion, world record holder, and one of the top wheelchair marathon racers in the world. A 4x Paralympian, she won four major marathons in 2025, including Boston, Chicago, New York, and Sydney. Off the race course, Susannah is a registered dietitian focused on nutrition and hydration for athletes with disabilities.

About

  • At the age of 5, sustained a spinal cord injury in a car accident resulting in paraplegia
  • Introduced to adaptive sports through a Shriners Hospital program in Spokane, WA
  • In 2021, she was involved in another car accident during a training ride which resulted in a fractured spine
  • Demonstrating tremendous resilience, she returned to competition and continued to excel in her sport
  • Her personal experiences with nutrition inspired her to become a registered dietician to help other athletes
  • Earned a master's degree innutritional science from the University of Illinois, and has a specific focuson the nutrition and hydration needs of athletes with disabilities
  • Works as a mentor for young athletes, and served as a 2023 ambassador for the New York Road Runners’ Run for the Future Program
  • 2025 Winner of the Abbott World Marathon Majors Wheelchair Series
  • 4x Marathon Champion in 2025
  • Enjoys swimming, being outdoors, and cooking
  • Classification T54
